What is a verb?
It is a term that serves as the primary part of a sentence’s predicate and describes an action, situation, or occurrence.
What are the types of tenses?
There are three types of sentences:
- Present tense
- Past tense
- Future tense
What is present tense?
A tense that expresses a currently occurring or frequently occurring action or a state that now or generally occurs.
Example 1 – I am eating a banana. Here the subject ‘I’ is eating a banana at present.
Example 2 – He eats at 3 o clock. Here the subject that is ‘he’ generally eats at 3 o clock.
What is present continuous tense?
The present continuous is a verb tense that is used to describe current situations or acts that are still going on, as well as routine actions and occurrences that are still under observation. It uses the present form of the verb (V1 Form) and -ing is included to it, that is v1+ing.
Example – Eating, sleeping, reading, coming etc.
If we are trying to use a verb for third-person singular, then we use the v1+ing form of the verb and is used as the helping verb.
Example – Ram is sleeping.
If we are trying to use a verb for third person plural, then we use the v1 + ing form of the verb and are as the helping verb.
Example – They are still sleeping on the same bed.
If we are trying to use a verb for first person plural, then we use the verb in the v1 + ing form of the verb and are as the helping verb.
Example – We are eating pasta.
If we are trying to use a verb for first person singular, then we use the v1+ing form of the verb and am as the helping verb.
Example – I am eating pasta.
If we are trying to use a verb for second person singular, then we use the verb in the v1 + ing form of the verb and are as the helping verb.
Example – You are still drawing.
