Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organisation under the Government of India to recruit staff for different posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts many national level exams for the recruitment of Graduate, Higher Secondary, and Metric Level posts under various Government Organisations / Departments / Divisions.

The most popular exam conducted by SSC is the CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam. It is conducted every year for graduates to recruit them for various non-technical posts of Group B and Group C in ministries, departments, and organizations of the Government of India.

Inspector, Inspector (Central Excise)

If you are posted in the field, you will have to manage jobs such as sealing and product monitoring, detection of tax evasion, etc. If you are posted at the headquarters, you will have to do clerical work, which mostly includes handling paperwork.

In the appointments of Excise Inspector, Assistant Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Appraiser/ Superintendent, and Deputy Commissioner, if you do well in your role, you may apply for a promotion.

 

Tax Assistant (Central Board of Direct Taxes)

There are many job duties for a tax assistant working for the Direct Taxes Central Board. If he is posted in the field of tax non-assessment, then he must do clerical work alone. However, if it is put in the tax assessment sector, then the income tax of an individual or corporation will have to be measured, checked, and then adjusted. He would also have to do a great deal of clerical work along with this.

 

Tax Assistant (Central Board of Excise and Customs)

There is very little control over the role of tax assistant on the Central Board of Excise and Customs. He may be assigned to the Department of Customs, Service Tax, or Excise and must write and submit reports. His career development would be comparable to that of the Tax Assistant at the Direct Taxes Central Board.

Income Tax Inspector (Central Board of Direct Taxes)

The role of an Income Tax Inspector can be divided into two parts: tax assessment and non-tax assessment, all of which can be shifted on a cyclical basis. In the case of the former, if needed, you will have to calculate and assess a company/income individual’s tax and process refunds. If you are liable for non-tax assessment, you would mostly have to do clerical work.

 

Inspector (Examiner) (Central Board of Excise and Customs)

Although this position has very few vacancies, it is associated with a lot of prestige and respect. If you are posted in the sector, verification of the taxes levied on goods passing through various ports must be carried out. Often, you will need to archive and file essential papers. If you are posted at the headquarters of the CBEC, you will mainly have to do clerical work.

5. Assistant Section Officer (Ministry of External Affairs) – works under the Ministry of External Affairs and the posting can be done in foreign countries as well

6. Assistant Section Officer (AFHQ) – is one of the premium and popular jobs of SSC CGL which provides a vast learning opportunity,
