What mistakes should be avoided during SSC CGL preparation?
SSC CGL Preparation – The SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2020 exam is soon going to be conducted by SSC for which lakhs of aspirants are actively preparing to get jobs in the Group B and Group C posts in various ministries and departments in the government of India. As the Tier 1 exam is tentatively scheduled from 29th May; so it’s high time you should daily give mocks and analyse your performance in them.
Here in this blog, will be listing some of the common mistakes that many students commit right from the time when they start preparation so that the amount of hard work you invest in the CGL preparation should not go in vain:-
Deviating from the Target: There are many aspirants who while preparing for the SSC CGL exam also simultaneously prepare for other competitive exams such as IBPS / SBI PO, Clerk. To be honest, you can’t stand on two boats. We suggest you prepare for only one exam because the exam format and type of questions vary a lot.
Reading Too Many Reference Books: There is no end for the preparation process, specifically for the general awareness section in Tier-I. If you read multiple books to study a single topic, it will definitely lead to ambiguity. Hence, we suggest you to pick the best and selected source of preparation.
Not Taking Online Mock Tests: Taking an online exam is entirely different from an offline one. As SSC conducts the exam online, candidates should familiar with the exam format. In the offline examination, one can jump from one question to the other in seconds, which is not possible online. So try to attempt as many online mocks as possible while preparing.
Ignoring the Accuracy: Attempting the whole SSC CGL question paper is encouraged but not at the cost of negative
Giving the least importance to Basic Concepts: Many aspirants start practicing the questions without covering all the basic concepts will make you mark the wrong answer in the exam. Always try to finish the concept first then only attempt questions.
Pushing important topics to end: Always be smart with your preparation by mastering the important topics first. By analysing the previous years’ question papers, one can assess the weightage of the topics. Try to complete the topics with high weightage first.
Going for too many shortcuts: Shortcuts are required in the examination specifically for CGL because a test-taker will have less than a minute to answer each question but always remember never to use that shortcuts which confuse you because it will consume much time.
Ignoring Other Sections: While preparing many students feels that being marking. Aspirants should stick to their time while practicing the questions because 0.50 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in Tier-I. So, increase your speed along with accuracy. strong in one or two sections will be enough to crack the exam. You should avoid this type of approach because this will not give positive results in the exam. For instance, you are strong in one section and if tough questions are asked from it; you cannot attempt all of them or wrongly answered many of them. This means you are out of the competition. So overall preparation is required.
Not Preparing a Study Schedule: Practising the topics without any planning will only intimidate you at the final stage of the preparation process. An effective study schedule should be prepared to crack the competitive entrance examination.
Ignoring Revision: During the final phase of the SSC CGL preparations, every aspirant should devote a reasonable amount of time for the revisions. Many students do not believe in revision and realises their mistakes after the exam. Never be one amongst them.
