Teacher’s day is was first celebrated to honour India’s second president, first vice president, philosopher and an incredibly loved and resected teacher – Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr Radhakrishnan’s students wished to celebrate his birthday, which is September 5th.
However, Dr Radhakrishnan told his students that he would be happier if the day was celebrated as Teacher’s Day every year to commemorate the importance of all teachers in our lives.
Ever since September 5th is celebrated as teacher’s day to honour the services of all teachers for the efforts they put in to shape the future of tomorrow.
As they say, the nation’s future lies in the hands of children and indirectly in the hands of teachers. That’s because teachers don’t just teach academic lessons, but also how to live life.
Celebration of Teacher’s Day
Teacher’s day is celebrated with a lot of excitement, enthusiasm and zeal in schools and institutions across the country.
Students in senior classes dress up as their teachers and prepare skits to appreciate them for their dedication to their students.
Students in junior classes prepare performances for their teachers as a token of thanks.
Students give dance performances, perform plays, conduct fancy dress contests in many classrooms, deliver speeches, and indulge in many other activities while their teachers watch them perform. Collective activities for teachers and students are organized in some Schools/ colleges. It’s all more fun. They play distinct matches and work together in different games that strengthen the bond between them.
Students shower their teachers with presents and cards to show them how loved they are.
