This worksheet is for kindergarten maths and environmental science, comprising the topic of ‘Tall or Short’. It will help students to have a better understanding of themselves with respect to the things around them.
After solving the worksheet, kids will have a better understanding of height. Students will be able to learn the following:
- What is the meaning of tall?
- What is the meaning of short?
- How do we compare anything?
- What is the use of comparing quantities?
How do we compare anything?
To compare anything, we must have all things that need to be compared to have an equal base. For example, if we compare the height of you and your friend, we first must make sure that you both are standing on the same ground and one of you is not standing on a higher ground than the other one. After standing on level ground, the height must be measured by a third person for fair competition and correct results.
What is the meaning of being tall?
If two objects or people are standing at the same ground or level ground, then being tall means that one of the two has a greater height than the other.
For example, when you stand next to your father on your level ground, your mother would be able to see that your father would have a greater height than you do. Thus, your father is taller than you.
For a better understanding, let us take another example – If you want to find out who is taller between your pencil and your bag, you must first put both objects on level ground and then measure the height. You will find out that your bag is taller than your pencil.
What is the meaning of being short?
If two objects or people are standing at the same ground or level ground, then being short means that one of the two has a lesser height than the other.
For example, when you stand next to your father on your level ground, your mother would be able to see that you would have a lesser height than your father. Thus, your father is taller than you and you are shorter than your father.
For a better understanding, let us take another example – If you want to find out who is shorter between your pencil and your bag, you must first put both objects on level ground and then measure the height. You will find out that your bag is taller than your pencil and your pencil is shorter than your bag.
From the picture above we can easily understand the meaning of tall and short. In this picture, everyone in the family is standing on level ground. We can tell that the father is taller than the girl and the mother. The mother is shorter than the father but taller than the girl, and the girl is shorter than both her parents.
