What is a sentence?
A sentence is a set of words that completes a thought or an idea. It starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, exclamation mark, or a question mark.
Ex – My name is Ram.
Here the letter “M” of ‘my’ is a capital letter and the sentence ends with a full stop.
What is a declarative sentence?
It is a sentence that is used to state a fact, offer an explanation, or convey information. It ends with a full stop.
Ex- Radha is playing football.
Here the speaker is trying to convey the fact that Radha, a girl, is playing football.
What is an interrogative sentence?
It is a sentence that is used to ask a question. It ends with a question mark.
Ex – Do you know Ram?
Here the speaker is asking someone if they know Ram.
What is an exclamatory sentence?
It is a sentence that is used to convey or express a sudden and strong feeling or emotions. It ends with an exclamation mark.
Ex – What a beautiful house!
Here the speaker is trying to convey their strong feelings about the beauty of the house.
What is an imperative sentence?
It is a sentence that is used to convey order, command, request or express a wish. It ends with a full stop.
Ex – Keep quiet.
Here the speaker is ordering or commanding the listener to keep quiet.
