Grandparents – Which is the first name which comes to your mind when you remember the childhood stories? Who were the persons we use to run to complaint about our parents not listening to us? Very clearly the picture which comes to our mind is of our loving Grand Parents.
The strength of India lies in the bonding which exists between our family members. The love and affection which a person gets from his family create the backbone of Indian society. The family tree starts from our grandparents who like the roots of a big tree gives stability to the family. While kids are the flowers who blossom on this family tree they derive total energy from the root of the family tree.
Grandparents love their grandchildren the most and always strive to spend time with them. They are the playmates for their grandchildren. While parents provide support to the family, grandparents are the adult model, heroes/heroin, teacher, friend and lot more to the kids. Children develop first external bonds with their grandparents. This is the first bond which children make with them apart from their parents. While children rely on their parents for survival and daily needs but most of the children are more open to their grandparents and share everything honestly with them.
Complementary needs: Today’s generation is indulging in technology while most of the grandparents are unaware of the technology, so here children play a very important role in their grandparent’s life. Children’s make their grandparents learn about the usage of these latest devices and gadgets. Kids teach about devices usage and grandparents share about the experiences and stories of their lives which kids enjoy the most. This strengthens the relationship between the child and grandparents. Both teach to each other. Even though there is a huge generation gap still they enjoy each other’s company.

As the parents are working and they are away so at times they are unable to give personalized attention to their children. In these situations, grandparents play a very important role. At times grandparents rebel for their grandchildren because their love for them is endless. Strict rules imposed by the parents upon kids are unlikable, as grandparents hide the mistakes of children because of love that’s why they are more open in front of their grandparents. This openness with kids also gives them the capability to maintain a better discipline in the house through love instead of strictness. Through their life experience, they give the best advice that makes children learn good habits.
Children, Grandparents are the most beautiful memory one can save for a lifetime. Spend time with grandparents and go to amazing places with them. Let’s share our stories with them, let them also share their amazing experiences. When I was a kid my grandparents use to tell the stories of history like how they struggled under British rule and after the division of the country, how did they restarted their life? These stories still keep on tingling in my mind always.
