Q15. Train A completely crosses train B which is 205 m long in 16 second. If they are travelling in opposite direction and sum of speed of both are 25 m/s. then find the difference (in meter) between lengths of both trains.
(a) 5
(b) 6
(c) 8
(d) 10
SOLUTIONS:-
Sol 1. (b)

X − Y = 96
Y = 4, X = 100
Sol 2. (d) A = B – 4

B = 15, A = 11
Sol 3. (d) 75% of P – 60% of P = 1500
P = Rs. 10000
Sol 4. (d) 20(12) + 20(16) + 20x = 900
20x = 900 − 240 − 320
x = 17years
Sol 5. (c) Let speed of person = x km/h
Speed of current = y km/h
x + y = 8
x − y = 2
x = 5km/h, and y = 3 km/h
Sol 6. (b) Let CP = 100, Then SP = 100 + 170 = 270
New CP = 120
New profit = 270−120/120 × 100 =125%
Sol 7. (b) Let speed of boat = u km/h and speed of flow = v km/h

On solving the equation, we get u = 8 km/h, and v = 2 km/h
Sol 8. (d) P/Q = 28/33 = 28:33
Sol 9. (c) Let sum of money = Rs P
P−250=P×15×5/100
4P−1000=3P
P=Rs 1000
Sol 10. (c) Sum of 17 numbers = 17 × 60 = 1020
Sum of first 9 numbers = 64 × 9 = 576
Sum of last 9 numbers = 54 × 9 = 486
9th number = 576 + 486 – 1020 = 42
Sol 11. (b) Let number be x
So 32% of x – 17%
x = 270 x=270×100/15=1800
Sol 12. (c) Salary of A = 3x = Rs 2400, B = 7x = Rs 5600, C = 4x = Rs 3200
Expenditure of A, B and C = 4y, 3y & 5y respectively.
Saving of A is 300
Expenditure = 4y = (2400 – 300) = 2100, ? = 525
Expenditure of B = 3y = 1575
Savings of B = 4025
Expenditure of C = 5y = 2625
Savings of C = 575
Sol 13. (b) Let total work = 120 units
Work done in 1st four days = 4 (6+5+4) = 60 units.
Work done in next x days = x (5+4) = 9x units.
Work done in last 6 days = 6×4 = 24 units.
∴ 60 + 9x + 24 = 120 ⇒ x = 4
So, total number of days = 4 + 4 + 6 = 14 days
Sol 14. (c) A can complete work in 15 days and B will complete work in 10 days.
They together will complete whole work in =15×10/25=6 days
A and B together worked for = 6 × 2/3= 4 days
Sol 15. (d) In 16 second distance covered by both A and B = 16 × 25 = 400 m
So length of A = 400 – 205 = 195
Required difference = 10 m
