SOLUTIONS:-
Sol 1. (c) 2b = a + c
2(3 + k) = 4 k = -1
Sol 2. (a) The middle number = sum of first six number + sum of last six number – sum of all 11 numbers = (6 × 36) + (6 × 42) – (11 × 40)
= 216 + 252 – 440 = 28
Sol 3. (d) 47 – [19 + {37 – 20}]
⇒ 47 – {19 + 17}
⇒ 47 – 36 ⇒ 11
Sol 4. (d) Arranging heights in ascending order 162, 163, 165, 172, 180, 180, 181
Median = n+1/2 th term (for n = odd)
Hence median = 172 (4th term)
Sol 5. (d) Let the three consecutive integers be x, x + 1 and x + 2 respectively.
3? + 3 = 30 ⇒ ? = 9
Largest integer = x + 2 = 9 + 2= 11
Sol 6. (c) 846 × 323 = 273258
Sol 7. (a) Effect = 20 – 10 – 20 ×10/100
= 20 – 10 – 2 = 8
Here 8 is +ive, so 8% increase
Sol 8. (b) A → 15 day
B → 25 day
A + B → 1/15 + 1/25 = 8/75
(A + B) can do work in 75/8 days
Sol 9. (d) 40/100 × ? = 480
x = 1200
So, 120% of x = 120/100 × 1200 = 1440
Sol 10. (b) Let the man’s age be 31 x years and that of his son be 13x years.
ATQ, 31x + 13x = 2 × 44
44? = 88 ⇒ ? = 88/44 = 2
Son’s age = 13x = 13 × 2 = 26 years
Sol 11. (d) Speed of train = Length of (train + platform)/Time taken to cross the platform
Speed of train is unknown. Hence, length can’t be determined.
Sol 12. (d) Actual cost price of cloth = Rs. (950 + 300) = Rs. 1250
To gain 30%, S.P. = Rs. (130/100 × 1250) = Rs. 1625
Sol 13. (d) Let the angles be 3x, 5x and 7x.
3? + 5? + 7? = 180°
15? = 180° ⇒ ? = 180/15 = 12°
∴ Smallest angle = 3 × 12 = 36°
Largest angle = 7 × 12 = 84°
∴ required difference = 2 × 36 – 84/2 = 72 − 42 = 30°
Sol 14. (c) 5 chairs + 8 tables = Rs. 6574
∴ 10 ?ℎ???? + 16 ?????? = 6574 × 2 = ??. 13148
Sol 15. (a) 20 persons do a job in → 8 day
1 person do a job in → 8 × 20 day
16 persons do a job → 8×20 16 = 10 days
