Short Essay on Pollution – Pollution Essay in English
Pollution occurs when toxins are introduced into the natural environment and cause harm. Chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat, or light, can pollute the environment. Pollutants are either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring pollutants that contribute to pollution.
Pollutants can come from the environment, such as volcanic ash. They can also be caused by human activities, such as garbage or factory runoff. Pollutants wreak havoc on the environment, including the air, water, and land.
Many items that are beneficial to individuals pollute the environment. Automobiles emit pollutants through their exhaust pipes. The air is polluted when coal is used to generate energy. Garbage and sewage are produced by industries and households, which can damage the land and water.
Pesticides, which are chemical poisons used to eliminate weeds and insects, contaminate streams and endanger wildlife. From single-celled microorganisms to blue whales, all living creatures rely on the Earth’s supply of air and water. All forms of life are harmed when these resources are polluted.
Pollution is a worldwide issue. Despite the fact that metropolitan regions are typically more polluted than rural areas, pollution can migrate to isolated areas where no one lives.
Pollution is carried by air and water currents. Marine contaminants are carried far and wide by ocean currents and migrating fish. Winds can pick up radioactive material that has been released accidentally from a nuclear plant and disperse it all over the planet. The smoke from one country’s industrial spreads into another.
Air pollution can be seen at times. Dark smoke, for example, can be seen pouring from the exhaust pipes of huge trucks or industries. Air pollution, on the other hand, is often imperceptible. Even if the pollutants aren’t apparent, polluted air can be deadly. It can cause people’s eyes to burn and their breathing to become difficult. It can also raise your chances of getting lung cancer.
Natural calamities can also generate rapid increases in air pollution. Volcanoes expel volcanic ash and gases into the atmosphere when they erupt. For months, volcanic ash can tint the sky.
Water pollution (also known as aquatic pollution) occurs when water bodies become contaminated as a result of human activity. Lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, and groundwater are examples of water bodies. Water contamination is the primary cause of mortality and disease worldwide, owing to water-borne diseases, for example.
More compounds can be dissolved by water than by any other liquid on the planet. It’s why we have Kool-Aid and gorgeous blue waterfalls. It’s also the reason why water is so easily contaminated. Toxic compounds from farms, cities, and factories easily dissolve and combine with it, polluting the water.
Land pollution is defined as the dumping of solid or liquid waste materials on land or underground in such a way that they contaminate the soil and groundwater, endanger public health, and create ugly situations and nuisances.
The permeability of the soil formations beneath the garbage can raise or decrease the risk of land pollution when waste is put onto a piece of land. The greater the permeability of the soil, the greater the risk of land pollution becomes.
The 3Rs approach, which entails reducing, reusing, and recycling, is the first step in reducing pollution. Citizens should use air conditioners less since they emit dangerous substances, such as ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons, which contribute to air pollution. One may not make a difference, but when done in concert, huge changes can be achieved.
Reusing reusable things such as plastic bags, bottles, cartons, and other objects is another strategy to reduce pollution. Instead of tossing away a worn-out tyre, for example, it can be turned into a plantation plot. Recycling recyclable things such as glass, cans, and newspapers is the next step in reducing pollution.
To summarise, there are numerous strategies to reduce pollution on the Planet, including implementing the 3Rs concept, reducing vehicle usage on the road, raising citizen awareness, and enforcing regulations that would result in a better environment for the benefit of both mankind and our mother earth. As a result, we must put on our thinking caps and prepare to cut pollution in everything we do and wherever we go.
