In a short interview with The Hindu, the noted scholar and author, Umberto Eco, first claimed to be an educationist and later a novelist. He is a professor at the University of Bologna in Italy. His compositions range from comics to literary interpretation, medieval aesthetics and finally novels and children’s books. When asked about his extensive works, he clarified his position by stating “I am a professor who writes novels on Sundays”. One is stunned by his ability to manage time. He reveals his secret doctrine of his spaces or his interstices’, as he calls them. Echo explained his way of using every other, even to free people between two different tasks.All of Echo’s works include her educational publications, a personal touch for her. This is Echo’s unique style of writing, which he started at the age of 22, when he was a research scholar. His inclination towards creative writing led him to novel-writing in his later years.His detective novel The Name of the Rose has sold 10 million copies, but its success did not surprise him. He said that the success of the book proves that there are people who read difficult texts.Overall, Echo turns out to be a dynamic personality who loves her work. His enthusiasm is evident in the way he answered all the questions without any apprehension or ability.
