National Game of India and Other Countries
SPORTS play an important role in our lives by keeping us healthy, affluent, and active. Only a healthy body allows us to have a healthy mind. When we take care of our physical and mental health, we may do great things.
Playing sports on a regular basis aids in the development of a person’s character and health. It is commonly observed that a person who participates in athletic activities from a young age develops a clear and strong character as well as good health.
Sports have always been quite important in India. In 1951 and 1982, India hosted the Asian Games in New Delhi. In 1982, when the IX Asian Games were held in New Delhi, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports was established as the Department of Sports.
During the International Youth Year celebrations in 1985, it was renamed the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. Several international sporting events have taken place in India, including the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982, the Cricket World Cup in 1987 and 1996, the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, the 2010 Hockey World Cup, and the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The Chennai Open, Mumbai Marathon, Delhi Half Marathon, and Indian Masters are all major international athletic events hosted in India each year. The country co-hosted the Cricket World Cup in 1987, 1996, and 2011, as well as the first Indian Grand Prix in 2011.

Any sport or game can be declared as a country’s national game, either because of its popularity or because of its historical ties to the country.
Hockey was regarded as our country’s national sport during its golden era, from 1928 to 1956, when India won six consecutive gold medals at the Olympic Games, but the Ministry of Sports Affairs has stated that no sports have been designated as the country’s national sports.
Every country has established its National Games, which are based on the rich history and cultural values of the country. The following is a list of major countries and their national games to give you an idea of the range of sports practised around the world.
