Important Facts about the National Awards:

Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award given in India. It was instituted in the year 1954& any person without any discrimination is eligible for this award.
The first recipients of the Bharat Ratna were politician C. Rajagopalachari, philosopher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and scientist C. V. Raman, who were provided with this honour in 1954.
Lal Bahadur Shastri became the first individual to be honoured with Bharat Ratna posthumously.
Sachin Tendulkar is the youngest recipient of Bharat Ratna till now. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 2014.
Most recent recipients- Madan Mohan Malaviya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee (In 2015)
There are two non-Indians who got Bharat Ratna till now. They are Pakistani national Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and former South African President Nelson Mandela.
Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award given in India. It was instituted in the year 1954.
Padma Bhushan is the third highest civilian award given in India. It was instituted in the year1954.
Padma Shri is the third highest civilian award given in India. It was instituted in the year 1954.
