Happy Diwali 2021 – Celebration & Wishes
Diwali the celebration of wealth, success and victory in all phases of life
Diwali is a festival of lights and a celebration of all the positive things in life. Often known as Deepavali or Diwali is a nation-wide festival which is celebrated not only in India, but also in countries where we have a lot of Hindu citizens, it is also declared as an official holiday in the countries abroad.
Diwali mainly signifies the victory of good over evil, and light over darkness. By darkness and evil we imply things like ignorance, negativity, envy and anger. All these are considered as dark things that envelop our mind and push us into pools of black puddles. This is the reason we light so many earthen lamps (diyas) to remove all these negativities from our life forever.
People clean their homes before Diwali, and also decorate, renovate them. Individuals dress up with new traditional clothes on Diwali and light up earthen lamps (diyas) and candles inside their homes and outdoors. The entire family offers prayers to the goddess of luck, Goddess Lakshmi.
People distribute dry fruits, and seasonal specialties to family members and friends. It’s time for family members and friends to build time and gladly celebrate with crackers. It’s also a time when kids get a chance to listen to old legends about why they celebrate Diwali.
Devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi during the festival of lights, and since no celebration is complete without invoking Lord Ganesha, both are worshipped side by side. The puja is followed by the distribution of sweets among relatives, neighbours and friends.
History of Diwali
The most well-known story behind Diwali is the great Hindu epic, The Ramayana. King Dasharatha, ordered the prince of Ayodhya, his son Rama, to leave his kingdom and return after fourteen years of living in the forest in exile. So Rama and his dedicated wife, Sita, and Lakshmana went into the forest for the said period. When Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, abducted Sita and took her to his kingdom, Rama fought against Ravana and killed him. The victory of Lord Ram is celebrated as Diwali when he returned back to his kingdom, Ayodhya.
Deepavali / Diwali is also celebrated because of the spiritual significance when the demon Narakasura was murdered by Lord Krishna, Satyabhama, and Kale on this very day. In Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Karnataka, Diwali is celebrated and followed by prayers to the deities early in the morning and followed by feasts consisting of delicacies.
