WHAT IS HEADING TAG?

Heading Tags are defined as the language which Google can understand and is able to suggest the same idea to other people. Proper headings with efficient choice of words can lead to the page ending up in the recommended section for other users. Heading Tags plays a very specific role in the term. Basically we can define Heading tags are used to structure the webpage of a particular business in order to optimize the searches which will redirect clients to a particular page. Every business owner wants to reach as many people as he or she can. And in order to do that you must have your content arranged in a specified manner is such a way that it is visible to the entire potential client with efficiency and in a much organised manner.

Now before moving to Types and Uses of HTML Header Tag, let’s first learn about the Google Algorithm which should be followed for Heading Tags;

GOOGLE ALGORITHM:

According to the Google algorithm, Keywords are the most important factor in finding a page online with a major crowd being directed to it. Page quality is determined by the keywords or the major phrases which are used in order to write the content of the page. The algorithm recommends the users or redirects the user by searching the keywords and which page is actively using these keywords for their content. Headings are the ones that are being filtered and that are why it becomes important to use the heading tag present in HTML to give headings and subheadings to their topic or any idea which they are trying to talk about. Google prioritizes HTML header tags. When it crawls to your site, it looks to headings and subheadings first to understand the context of your website. These headings are a more valuable and higher priority to Google, so it’s a prime opportunity to integrate your keywords

TYPES AND USES OF HEADING TAGS:

HTML Header tag for a website is chosen very carefully and with all consequences in mind in advance. Giving Heading to a certain static webpage is like giving a name to a child so that people can recognize him or her uniquely. Proper choice of word in accordance with the content idea in mind is necessary before declaring something as Heading.

There are six types of Heading Tags that are there: H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6. All these heading types are Hierarchical in nature which gives a definition of relations between each of these headings.  HTML H1 tags are the most important header in Google’s eyes and form the title of the page.

Identifying the title with an H1 tag will help Google quickly know what the content is about. This HTML H1 Tag helps Google to Identify the topics for which the page has been created and also put this page under the envelope to put it in the recommendation box of the targeted audience. So any digital marketer has to be skilled in a particular language in which he or she is writing the article in order to use this protocol efficiently. The later Heading Tags are used for further classification of the declared topic.

HEADING TAGS RULES:

There are certain Rules and internet protocol that has to be followed to make the webpage SEO friendly. First of all, H1, which is heading is the most important part of the article or the webpage. This sole heading will decide the performance of the whole web page for this particular topic. Now after the selection of the H1, comes the selection of the location of each heading. We have to go in ascending order from H1 to H2 and so on. If we didn’t follow the sequence, the hierarchy would be said broken which ultimately lead to the article rejection to a suggested box. For example, you can’t introduce H5 after H1. Though on later parts, mixing of sequences doesn’t matter as compared.

There are two terms: SEO broken and SEO friendly which speaks for themselves. People have to take care of the protocols related to this.

Some of the rules regarding the heading tags are as follows:

1. Put the h1 tags at the top of your page.

2. Use the words people would use when searching for what your content is about, think like them.

3. If you’re targeting a question, put the question in the h1 tag. This enables the readers to relate with them more effectively.

4. If you’re writing a how-to guide, put each step in an h2 tag. This makes the page more readable and attractive to young as well as the grown audience.

5. For non-how-to articles, use LSI keywords and other, semantically-related words in your h2-h6 tags. This helps reinforce topical relevance and removes ambiguity.

SYNTACTIC APPROACH TO HEADING TAG SEO:

1. Heading 1 should be short and crisp and should not include all the keywords in order to get maximum clicks and referrals.

2. It is seen that headings with a question and a question mark in the end generally perform well.

3. The opening of each heading is done using <hi>, where I can be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

4. Use only one H1 tag in order to make the webpage unique and distinguished from the rest of your work.

5. Do not use heading tags as hidden text. Any hidden text can result in penalties for your site, especially if the hidden part is a component that affects SEO.

6. Choose H2, H3 and so on Tags according to the level of importance of the topic.

7. We generally don’t use H5 and H6, these come into picture if we have a very long article to write and requires extra heading for the same.

IMPORTANCE OF HEADER TAG:

1. As a user, whenever I visit a web page of any company that is providing products and services, I would want their content or information about the same to be organised and well-structured with all the information in it, so that I don’t have to do research about them from other websites. I should be able to get the essence of what they want to convey from their headings to their unique web pages. Comfortability of the user should be the prime importance for the company as nobody likes unnecessary Facts Hunting.

2. When you look at the different pages in the search results, you’ll want to look at the structure of the article, the keywords used, and the information covered. What type of content do these articles cover? Scanning these articles will help you determine search intent for the keyword.

3. As a digital Marketer, I want my Web pages to reach as many people as possible with maximum participation of the user. In order to do that I have to have my webpage search optimized with all the important Keywords involved in it. The most important feature of using Header Tags is the involvement of the term called readability. Readability is a crucial component of the online user experience. What’s the point in creating excellent content if your users can’t enjoy reading it?

4. Google sees the text used within the HTML header tags as more valuable, or a higher priority, than the rest of the text on a page. Therefore, words used in the header tags are weighted more highly when Google is trying to figure out if a page is relevant to a user’s query. Using this fact we can optimize our use of Header Tags, especially H1 tag. But the one thing that should be kept in mind is the frequency of the use of H1 tag, as Google algorithm prefers tags over there the content so using multiple tags can confuse the search engine which may decrease your searching frequency.

4. As a digital marketer, I want to land on the recommendation page and also on the first search list of the user searching background or the results which he or she gets whenever something is being searched on Google. Many companies are able to win the competition of the game as they are able to land on the user’s suggestion list and are able to advertise their future products or services.

HTML Header Tag can be described as a path to reach your destination (End Users), beyond that you have to impress him or her by the services or the products that you provide. Digital marketing is indeed taking over the world and is currently growing. With this pace of growth, we should become positive of witnessing some of the most competitive eras in human history.
