Daughter’s Day : Celebration, Significance & History

What is Daughter’s Day?

Daughter’s Day, as clearly as the name suggests, it is a day dedicated to daughters. Different countries tend to celebrate it on different days and in India it is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of September. This year it falls on 22nd September.

Why is it celebrated?

Children, whether male, female or other, are a blessing. However, they should be cherished daily, but it is good to take a day out especially to honor them. After all, there’s a mother’s day and a father’s day.

Most of the world’s developing countries tend to stigmatize women and create a concept that boys are more essential than women. The day to celebrate a unique creation like Daughters generates a feeling of belonging and dignity for women

History of Daughters Day

One should not need a reason to celebrate kids or justify, putting aside a day to celebrate for having a daughter as a blessing. However, many unjustly patriarchal societies still consider women to be inferior to male kids. So in some countries governments decided to add daughter’s day as a nationally recognized festival in an effort to promote equality. Every citizen is equal before government and law, and individuals need to encourage this thinking.

Significance of Daughter’s Day

The festival’s success demonstrates how times change. The happy day of celebration of having children and daughters inevitably leads to some type of celebration in daughter households. As it falls on Sunday, children and parents generally go on a vacation and celebrate this day together.

Celebration of Daughters Day

There can be as many ways as there are families to celebrate the day of the daughter. Sometimes parents write their daughters ‘ heartfelt cards, letters or emails and can accompany them with a donation. The rest of the celebration varies from family to family, depending on the relation between the daughter and parent(s). Some may celebrate it with a large family celebration, while others may celebrate with a tiny personal affair. There might be an outing or perhaps the girl will celebrate separately with each parent.

It’s not as simple as it appears to raise a daughter and mold her into an extremely effective human being. The pleasure of raising a daughter into a fully grown woman implies a great deal to parents, thus demonstrating that a girl kid requires unique therapy as the houses’ flower. As a result, creating sweet and beautiful memories for daughters matters a lot.
