E-GOVERNANCE – Electronic governance is governance through the medium of information technology to make the government related service simple, moral and accountable. EVOLUTION OF E-GOVERNANCE IN INDIA
Government of India established a national information centre (NIC) in 1977 and it was considered as a major step for e-governance establishment in India. NICNET was followed in 1987 to boost what it has started.
However, e-governance was first started in Kerala with the scheme name called AKSHAYA which aim was to cater the requirement of 1000- 3500 families with the power of networking.

- Language barrier among different states leading to no integrated system
- Huge population leading to huge resources
- No infrastructure for sustaining e-governance projects on a national level
- Lack of proper coordination among government departments on a national level

- Create literacy and awareness among citizens
- Conduct surveys and pre-assessment before implementing projects
- Implement pilot projects that are successful for better results
- Build an integrated database for easy retrieval of information
- Take an example from other states who have successfully implemented the schemes
- Manage and update the government websites regularly so that information is delivered efficiently
- Policies are having interoperability feature
