Cbse class 10 science Chemical Reactions and Equations Chapter 1
Takshila Learning is providing online classes for CBSE class 10 science students. We are giving 2D and 3D videos for CBSE courses, So that students can understand easily each and every module. Today we will discuss about very important topic Chemical Reactions,Reactant & Product and Equations.
Cbse class 10 science Chemical Reactions and Equations Chapter 1
- Chemical Reaction
- Reactant & Product
- Chemical Equation
Chemical Reaction: The transformation of chemical substance into another chemical substance is known as Chemical Reaction. For example: rusting of iron, setting of milk into curd, digestion of food, respiration, etc.
In chemical reaction new substance is formed which is completely different in properties from the original substance, so in a chemical reaction chemical change takes place.
Signs of Chemical Reaction
Change of colour of substance
Change of state of substance
Evaluation of heat/ gas/ light/ sound
Absorption of heat, etc
Reactant – Any substance that undergoes a chemical change in a given reaction. It is also known as interactant.
Product – A new substance obtained from another substance through chemical reaction.
Chemical Equation – A symbolic representation showing the kind and amount of the starting materials and product of a reaction. Example = A+B->X+Y
In this equation, A and B are Reactants and X and Y are Products. Arrow shows the direction of chemical reaction.
Example: When Oxygen reacts with Hydrogen results Water.
Hydrogen and oxygen are reactants, H2O is Product and arrow represent chemical reaction. And this reaction can be represented by following chemical reaction.
H2+O2->H2O.
Chemical Equation can be divided into two types
• Balanced chemical equation
• Unbalance chemical equation.
